THE MISSION
My wife's 5th grade class at Weldon Middle School, (Weldon City Schools, Weldon, NC) will be adopting a forward deployed unit in either Afghanistan or Iraq. As part of that adoption her class is trying to provide something to the troops that's missing in their lives.
F-L-A-V-O-R.
I'm not saying military food blows, but for those in the food field who've never experienced "the thrill" of eating MRE's I can assure you they've come a long way since K-rats and C-rats. However, that isn't to say they're the tastiest things on the planet. This is why we've chosen to pick these products and send them to the troops.
We are asking for case lots of:
- Mayo
- Mustard
- Ketchup
- Tartar sauce
- Horseradish cream
- Hot sauce
- Pickle relish
- Creamers (dried or liquid)
- Sugar
- Sugar substitutes
There's no such thing as too much of any one item.

HOW YOU CAN HELP
This is how this will work in order to make it easiest for most. We will be purchasing product under the school's food service account using a separate invoice which will be paid through these donations. A PayPal account has been set up specifically for this program. That account is listed under the email address of operationflavor@yahoo.com. All monies collected will be going towards the purchase of product. As part of my involvement, along with coordinating donations and soliciations, I'll be footing the postage bill overseas.
As I mentioned before, I'll ensure that the troops know who "sponsored" what as long as I am notified. If not, the funds will be divided up and as much of everything as possible will be procured. In the event you have a branded PC product and would like to donate that, please do! You may contact me through Foodservice.com via this link.
My moment on the soapbox:
Whether or not you support the actions in those countries by our government is irrelevant to whether our troops should be supported. There are a lot of service men and women overseas on our behalf. This is an easy/simple way of us thanking them.
Again friends, from the bottom of our hearts, thank you.
Steve, Lori, her class and our military.
